Lighten Up for Spring!

9 May

No matter what your favorite time of year is, spring always feels like a welcome friend breezing into your life with the promise of exciting possibilities, beautiful days and the opportunity to reclaim a brighter color palette.

As the weather warms up we shed coats, hats, scarves and layers of clothes and lose the boots, cute as they are, for open-toe shoes and the occasional Wellie. “Lightening up” is figurative and literal this time of year.

There doesn’t seem to be a firm consensus on why so many of us choose this time of year to clear out, clean out and organize our homes and our lives. But whatever the reason, who doesn’t love flinging open the windows to let in that all of that fresh, crisp air? Even those of us who have hay fever can appreciate the spring. Just pop an allergy pill and enjoy the breeze! (Thank goodness for modern medicine.) With all of the flowers in bloom, fragrance is a very natural and iconic feature of the changing season.

Many of us are ready to express the personification of spring in all facets of our lives, including at home, at work, creatively, and in our self-expression, which of course includes personal fragrance choices! Transitioning from a heavier scent to a lighter, breezier one is common this time of year. (Not only does it coincide with lightening up overall for spring, but perfumes and fragrances are no longer stifled under sweaters and scarves, allowing the scents to be enjoyed and appreciated more readily.)

Some of our popular favorites hit these light, breezy notes perfectly: Ellen Tracy Pretty Petals, with a sunny combination of White Peach Water and Moroccan Rose layered over Blackberry and Vanilla Absolute.

Adrienne Vittadini is another lovely option, highlighting more floral, with Cyclamen and Muguet layered over classic Yellow Freesia, Jasmin and Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood and Moss. Men’s fragrance gets in on the action, too.

And Caribbean Joe offers a subtly masculine combination which includes Bergamot, Lavender Water, Rosemary and Geranium (and White Rum, Sea Moss and Musk, too – delicious!).

So lighten up for spring, and let us know which are your favorites!
